California Dreaming TRIP A MONTH May 2015 part 3

I left LA and headed north, stopping in Cloverdale to stay with some good friends, who fed me artichokes from their garden, and we drank wine they had made. The next morning, after good dog cuddles, they sent me along my way, with some suggestions for the area.

Alea Joy of Solabee Flowers making her Mandala Magic at the Spirit Weavers Gathering.

I arrived at Spiritweavers a day early, and was lucky enough to get to play with flowers with my Portland pal Alea. Together with the helping hands of over 12 people, she guided us to make the most beautiful floral mandala I have ever seen. It was such a wonderful experience. She threatened to start teaching workshops in mandala making…I hope it’s more than a threat and that I get to come along… 🙂

We stayed in a den made for a queen in this Stout Tent. They are a great company from Arizona (my birthplace!) and make for a special camping experience for sure…

My macramé workshops in the redwoods were all sold out, I ended up teaching over 75 people in 3 days! It was alot, and I think next year I will only teach half time. What a special experience. Out in the woods with 500 women sharing space… I left transformed, with so many new friends, and deeper connections with old ones.

On my way to SF I stopped at the best place. Healdsburg SHED is a mecca for beautiful design, delicious things to eat, make, and look at. A true feast for the senses. I have been trying to figure out a way to teach there…

I was so lucky to find a place to stay in SF right in the mission district, where I could park my truck in a garage, and WALK to my first class location at Alite Designs. It was a beautiful space found on the website Behomm.

My second workshop in SF was at Studio Choo.

I met the amazing ladies behind the floral design business up in Portland a few months before and we connected immediately and just HAD to teach a collaborative workshop! The space is stunning and we had an amazing time.

The last day in town, I walked around the mission, met my little brother for lunch, and peeked into an amazing vintage shop, Farnsworth Modern. Jeff and I talked for over an hour about Portland, surfing, weed, and trends in design, and I walked out of there with a BEAUTIFUL Takeshi Nii folding chair in a dusty rose.

After that I said hi to my pal Sasha who is the owner of Bell Jar in SF (an LA location is coming soon too!!), I picked out a cute dress from designer Mary Meyer, who I once visited in her NY studio and we sang songs on a guitar and laughed about who knows what..

Next stop was Esalen. I had always wanted to visit, but the drive always seemed a bit off the beaten path.

I stayed with an old friend, and we soaked, ate healthy food, and talked about old times and being new versions of ourselves.
